This beautiful variety of tourmaline receives the name of liddicoatite in honour of the great American gemologist Richard T. Liddicoat. The slices coming from Madagascar show a geometric colour distribution which is unique and matchless for each crystal and even within one crystal each slice is different. THey are much sought after by collectors for their beauty and rarity. This specimen stands out for its exceptional array of colours surrounding an hexagonal pink "heart".
