Description:
Muzo is the most famous deposit of emeralds. It is also infamous in the world of precious stones for the many stories and legends in which it features. It has been operated over centuries and still produces emeralds of top quality. The specimens embedded in a matrix are very much sought after by collectors, but now one has to be very careful, as often they are not real, but the stones have been glued to the matrix. Thus, specimens like this one, where there are several gems embedded in a matrix of calcite, are hard to come by.
