Quartz was chosen by the geologist Friedrich Mohs to represent grade 7 in his famous scale of hardness dating back to 1825, and which is still valid nowadays. No deposit in the world can compete with the one on the border between brazil and Uruguay, over the quantity, beauty, size adn perfection of amethyst geodes. This one weighs 387 kg, and is only one of many in our collection.
