Also known as pistacite, due to its pistachio-green colour. This refers to a small group of minerals, which contain epidote and others such as zoisite (tanzanite). Epidote sometimes forms crystals of considerable size, usually quite elongated, is of a dark green to black colour, and can be found in granite rocks. It has an intense vitreous luster and high pleochroism which can be easily appreciated in the transparent specimens
