Sodalite is an aluminium silicate, and has a beautiful royal blue colour, thus having been used to imitate lapis lazuli or lazurite. However, it can also appear in other colours, such as white, green or yellow. It usually appears in a massive form, although in places such as Greenland or Afghanistan, they can be found as crystals, as is the case here.
